Becoming a film photographer

Good morning! This post has technically been close to 3 weeks in the making, though the idea spawned around 7 months ago.

In February 2024, I had a lot of conversation with a fellow retro tech nerd, and the thing that he’s into is film (particularly 35mm film), but at that point we were talking about it for cinematography, which would cost thousands of dollars per project (a 1000ft roll, roughly 11 minutes, would cost $500 or more, then renting a Panavision camera would cost $1,000 per day, though that price may be higher now since I got that number from a video that was made in 2007).

Fast-forward last week of August, I decided that I wanted to get into 35mm film, but for photography instead since that’s much cheaper. As I’m typing this, the camera that (I think) I’m going to use is out for delivery, and it’s a Canon EOS 650 that came from Japan. Also, on the very first Sunday of September I bought a 3-pack of 35mm Fujifilm 400s from Walmart (2 pictures are below).
